For Tanaj's evening at the opera, her makeup simply had to be perfect. Warm rose blush illuminated her skin tones and bronze shades added to the mystique. The achieved look was dramatic, sophisticated and very sexy!

Name: Tanaj
Special Occasion: A night at the opera; dinner out

Tanaj's evening out definitely qualifies as big. She and her date are going out for a night at the opera and then dinner at her favorite restaurant. Bianca wanted to make sure Tanaj's makeup matched the drama of this special night.

Makeover created by: MAC Makeup Senior Artist Bianca Alexander

1

Apply moisturizer to a clean face. Bianca feels that most women have skin that is more dehydrated than they know, so she likes to mix a bit of moisturizer in with the foundation for a beautiful dewy finish. Apply the mixture of full-coverage foundation and moisturizer evenly all over the face and blend well with a makeup sponge

2

Using a warm brown pressed powder and an angled blush brush, Bianca contoured Tanaj's face by applying color under the cheekbones and jawline, blending well. To brighten, warm rose blush was applied on the apples of her cheeks, lightly at first, slowly build to the desired intensity. A bright pop of color, instead of a dark, intense color, can really illuminate the skin.

3

To begin the eyes, use your fingers and dab bronze cream shadow all over the lid, from lashes to brow. This will highlight the eye and also help your shadow wear longer. Working with a tapered shadow brush, apply the same color you used to contour your face to the brow bone, blending well.

4

With a black eyeliner pencil, line the inside of both your top and bottom lashes. Use the same pencil and mark a small triangle at the outer corner of the upper lid.

5

Use a blending brush to work this color until it is a soft and smoky "V". Extend this color beyond the corner of the eye and up into the crease. (Liner color may require more blending, but it will last much longer than eye shadow.)

6

Using a bronze powder shadow, go over the liner color on the outside of the lid to soften and set the black. Apply a light, metallic pink shadow to the inner corner of the lid, under the outer half of the brow and along the lower lash line to highlight the eye.

7

As a final blending technique, Bianca used a vivid orange shadow on the upper brow bone and under the lower lash line. It's important to blend this color well. The orange will brighten the look and prevent it from looking ashy or dull.

8

Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Bianca intensified Tanaj's look by adding false lashes. Because she didn't want the false lashes looking too false, she cut one strip into small sections of two or three individual lashes. Apply a small amount of glue to these mini-strips and press them into the upper lash line, starting at the outer corner and filling in where needed.

9

Mix a warm apricot and a clear gloss together and apply using a lip brush. Don't use a liner. Bianca wanted to keep Tanaj's lips very soft and subtle so that they wouldn't compete with the drama of her eyes.
