Website editor Amy wanted to take her long hairstyle to a newer level. But this 32- year-old mother of two has limited time in the mornings to style her look. Fun and flirty, her new layered style utilizes her natural wave to help hold the shape, whether dried naturally or blown out.

Name: Amy
Age: 32
Occupation:

Amy says she is ready for a big change. She wants a look with "personality," but since she has two children under the age of three and a full-time job, she wants a haircut that is easy to style.

Makeover created by: Vidal Sassoon Salon, Crown Building, 730 Fifth Avenue, New York City.

The first thing stylist Janet did was cut Amy's long, thick hair to her neck. "I needed to remove the weight to see some of her natural wave."

With a flirty, fun look in mind, Janet cuts Amy's hair in layers. She says Amy's thick, wavy hair is perfect for layers because it will hold its shape if it dries naturally or is blown-dry straight.

To emphasize Amy's new layers, colorist Gregory applied four different shades of blonde in random sections. "It's to lighten her look, and the mixture of blondes gives a nice healthy shine to her hair."
