Fried hair and bare-faced was not the image Christina wanted to present on her first date with a new guy. A moisturizing hair-color masque and just the right makeup to the rescue! Voila - her natural beauty is revealed!

Name: Christina
Special Event: First date with a new man
Challenge: Makeup Novice
For a first date with a new man, sporty and outdoorsy Christina wanted to fix her fried hair, a leftover from last summer, when she spent way too much time at the beach. She also wanted to learn how to wear makeup - finally! - as long as it was a fresh and dewy look she could apply by herself. She wanted nothing too complicated or "done" looking. With Christina's date ready for a walk in the park later that afternoon, the crew at Bernarsky Studios went right to work.

To moisturize Christina's hair while restoring its original ebony-black luster, hair colorist and stylist Danielle Carr applied a moisturizing ammonia-free nonpermanent hair color masque. After rinsing and towel-drying, she used a flat iron, some reworkable styling paste and her fingers to create choppy sections. Danielle's secret weapons: L'Oreal ColorSpa MoistureActif in Ebony, L'Oreal VIVE Smooth-Intense shampoo, conditioner and shine serum, and L'Oreal Alt Studio Remix Paste

To give Christina that undone look she wanted, makeup artist Julia Newbold made an unexpected first step by applying foundation all over her face and neck. According to Julia, "The trick is finding a foundation that actually looks like skin -- not foundation!" Julia's secret weapon: L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Creme Cafe (#W8)

For Christina's eyes, Julia wanted to add depth and dimension. So she took a tone-on-tone approach, using light mascara and a creamy, stick-based, easy-to-apply eyeshadow in a terra-cotta shade. Eyeshadow was dotted all over Christina's lids, then smudged with fingers from the lower edge of her brows to the upper edge of her lashes. Julia's secret weapons: L'Oreal FeatherLash Mascara in Black and L'Oreal Colour Fresco Eyecolour in Icy Spice

For Christina's cheeks, Julia opted for a gel-based blush instead. According to the makeup artist, "To apply gel blush, dot it on the apples of your cheeks, then gently rub outward in a circular motion. This gives you a nice flush instead of that old-fashioned fake-cheekbone look." Julia's secret weapon: L'Oreal Translucide Gel Blush in Bronze Glow

Christina loved her liquid blush, so Julia took it to the next level with liquid lip color. After learning how to apply it with a sponge-tipped applicator wand, Christina said, "I think it's actually easier to apply than lipstick." Julia's secret weapon: L'Oreal Rouge Pulp Lipcolour in Daring
