Grant, an actor in New York City, agreed to grow his hair longer for his makeover. He discovered his longer locks offered more styling options, while highlights brightened his face and enhanced his sexy looks. This "bad boy" look could play it devilishly innocent or rakishly debonair.
Name: Grant
Age: 32
Occupation: Actor
Grant is used to changing his appearance when it suits his career, so he accepted our assignment when we asked him to grow his hair for the makeover. He describes his hair as "big," meaning that it's thick and wavy when long. Stephen Knoll stylist Liliana was up for the challenge.
Makeover created by: Stephen Knoll Salon, New York City.
After cutting out some of the weight and bulk from his hair, Liliana trimmed Grant's sideburns. She left his hair long in front, so he can wear it combed back or let it flop over his forehead as modified bangs.
Colorist Joey added what he called "demlights" to Grant's hair. In other words, highlights spread out so they are points of light that add dimension to the style. Grant's hair is naturally jet black, so Joey adjusted the shade of the highlights to ensure they weren't too light.
