At 31, freelance medical writer Sophia longed for an updated look for her longer locks. Eye-catching movement was created with chunky layers, and makeup techniques produced a dramatic change
Name: Sophia
Age: 31
Occupation: Freelance medical writer
Sophia's hair is finally the length she loves -- but she feels she needs some shape and body in her hair, and an updated makeup look. Hairstylist Jovanny and makeup artist Seven did both.
Makeover created by: Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa, New York City.
Jovanny cut chunky layers into Sophia's hair to add bounce and movement. He calls the long, uneven style "rock-star" layers. Styling the new look is easy: Before blow-drying, he worked a few drops of Paul Labrecque Replenish into the hair. Then using a round bristle brush, he pulled her hair forward as he dried it to add volume. When drying the ends, he switched to a paddle brush for a sleek, super-straight look.
Seven applied Shu Uemura Nobara cream foundation all over Sophia's face, blending with a sponge. With a powder brush, she dusted Pretty Pretty bronzing powder in D'Orazia on her cheeks and forehead, then swept it across Sophia's lids to warm them.
Seven applied a warm bronze shadow all over the lid from lash to crease, then covered the brown color with a shimmering gold.
Using a lip brush, Seven used Pretty Pretty lipstick in Sheba Baby, a warm taupe. She followed the lip color with Shu Uemura chocolate lip liner. As a final touch, she used Pretty Pretty lip gloss in a deep plum shade.
