You know what "prom" stands for, don't you? Let me make sure you do: "pretty ridiculous overpriced memory." But what a memory! It's true, it's a good formal party to experience as an adult and a good way to celebrate graduation -- and it's definitely fun to get all gussied up and perhaps make chemistry with that cute guy from your science class. But don't exaggerate the experience. It's not a rite of passage or the dawn of a new existence. It's simply an expensive party. Have fun, go with a good friend or a date you're comfortable with, and don't take it too seriously. There will be tons more parties in your future.
