Later, Rico went to celebrity hairstylist Louis Licari's salon for a more contemporary hairstyle and shape. Licari says he wanted to respect Rico's desire for a comfortable hairstyle that doesn't require much maintenance, but he also wanted to give him a more professional look. "Rico said when he walked into work he realized his look was too casual for his new career," notes Licari. "For his makeover, Adele tapered his hair on the sides, keeping it a bit longer on top for a better shape." After cutting Rico's hair, his gray hairs became more noticeable, so Olivia applied a color wash for five minutes which doesn't cover the gray but softens it so it blends into the darker hair. "If your hair is dark," says Licari, "it's very important not to make it any darker; otherwise you won't have a natural look."
