Ralph Goldacker: Messy to Casual Chic
Today's fashion stylist Stacy London didn't mince words when she consulted Ralph. "Hawaiian prints are great for Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but not for Dad," she quipped. Her picks for this father?
- She recommended Ralph wear a Western-style shirt with a more modern and fitted cut than the loose, casual shirts he'd been wearing because "it is more flattering to the body by creating a stronger shoulder line and camouflaging a tummy." But it's still fun, in the spirit of the bright floral shirts Ralph favors. "It has a great print and intentionally mismatched buttons," she points out.
- Stacy also suggested Ralph change his jeans. "Dark wash jeans look more polished and sophisticated than light wash jeans and are a better alternative in a professional environment," she says.
- She replaced Ralph's denim jacket with a longer, loosely constructed jacket, like an army-style one, to emphasize his broader shoulders, which de-emphasizes a tummy.
- Ralph's footwear got an update too. Every man should own a nonathletic sneaker, says Stacy. "They give a casual look a more sophisticated edge. Leave the gym sneakers for the gym."
