Ralph's new hairstyle!
Ralph got in the habit of wearing Hawaiian shirts when he was stationed in Hawaii in the Air Force. And until a few years ago, he wore his hair in a military-style cut. But the father of five set a goal three years ago to grow his hair and give it to Locks of Love. Once his hair hit waist length, his wife, Kellie, said "enough"!
Kellie submitted Ralph's photo to the iVillage Make Over Dad photo gallery, thinking that if he was selected for the Today show makeover, it would be a Father's Day present to him. She wrote: "Ralph is one of the most beautiful souls you'll ever meet. A man with jeans from the '80s, tourist shirts, and waist-length dark hair, with nerdy glasses and a hat leaves you with quite an impression. A definition of dork! Truly unselfish growing out his hair for Locks of Love, he really needs a makeover, but more, an outlet to give his hair to an unfortunate little girl and bring a smile to her face."
Ralph said he was eager to have his hair cut and willing to have his beard removed. He said he would like this makeover to improve the first impression he gives people when they walk into his saltwater fish store. "Hopefully it will increase sales!" he joked.
